How to Root Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on Android 4.4.2 KitKat Firmware

Samsung has just rolled out a new Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the international version of Galaxy Note 2 with model number GT-N7100.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 users who have already updated their devices with Android 4.4.2 KitKat, may root their devices using the tutorial below.

This tutorial uses CF-Auto-Root file released by Senior Recognized XDA-Developers, Chainfire. Head over to the CF-Auto-Root main thread to learn more about the root method.

Pre-requisites

1. Install USB Drivers for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on the computer.

2. Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone by navigating to Settings >> Developer Options.

3. Make a backup of all your important data before following the guide.

4. Ensure the battery of the phone is charged more than 80 percent.

5. The CF-Auto-Root file works only on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with model number GT-N7100. Applying this to any incorrect variant might brick the device. Verify the model number of the Galaxy Note 2 by navigating to Settings >> About Phone.

Files Required

1. CF-Auto-Root (Mirror Link) (CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.zip)

2. Odin 3.09

Steps to Root Galaxy Note 2 N7100 Running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat Firmware

Step 1: Extract CF-Auto-Root and Odin 3.09 files using WinRAR/7-Zip/WinZip or any other extracting tool.

Step 2: Switch off the Galaxy Note 2. Then boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until a construction Android robot icon with a warning triangle appears on screen. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.

Step 3: Launch Odin on the computer as an Administrator.

Step 4: Connect the Galaxy Note 2 to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn to light blue with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connected will be indicated by a message saying Added.

Step 5: In Odin, click the AP button and select the CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5file.

Step 6: Verify that Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected in Odin. Also, ensure the Re-Partition option is NOT selected.

Step 7: Double-check and click Start button in Odin. The installation process will now begin.

Step 8: Once the installation process is completed, your phone will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from the computer.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat is now rooted successfully. Open the app drawer of the phone and check for an app called SuperSU. Verify the root status of the device by downloading Root Checker app from Google Play Store.

How to Fix "Unfortunately, SuperSU has stopped"?

Step 1: Download and install the latest APK of SuperSU on your device.

Step 2: Open SuperSU app (update the binary if prompted) and allow it to disable KNOX.

3. ဖုန္းကို Power ပိတ္ပါ.. ၿပီးရင္ Volume Up + Home + Power ခလုတ္ကို တြဲဖိထားလိုက္ပါ..

1. ဖုန္းကို Power ပိတ္ပါ.. ၿပီးရင္ Volume Up + Home + Power ခလုတ္ကို တြဲဖိထားလိုက္ပါ..
2. ေပၚလာတဲ့ စာေတြထဲမွာ wipe data and cache ကိုေရြးၿပီး Home ကိုႏွိပ္ပါ. က်န္တာေတြေတာ့ မေျပာေတာ့ဘူးေႏွာ္.. ၿပီးရင္ Reboot လုပ္ေပးလိုက္ၿပီး ျပန္တက္လာရင္ သံုးလို႔ရပါၿပီ..

Things you need to download:

1. Download Odin PC and install it. - Get it Here
2. Download and install Samsung USB Drivers – Get Here
3. Download the CWM Recovery for SM-N900 – Get it Here [N900]
4. If you have a different model, download the recovery from Here
5. Download the latest SuperSu.zip – Get it Here

How to install ClockworkMod recovery:

1. Put your phone in download mode. In order to do so turn it off by pressing power key for a few seconds or by pulling out the battery, wait for 30 seconds. Turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home Button + Power Key, as soon as it shows you the warning press Volume Up to  continue. You are in the download mode now.
2. Open Odin, you installed in the step 1 above.
3. Connect your Galaxy Note 3 to your PC using the original data cable. The ID:COM box should now turn blue, and Odin shows ”Added” in the log box below.
4. Hit the PDA tab and select the downloaded CWM Recovery file, it should be a .tar file.
5. Make sure that the options selected in your Odin screen are exactly as shown below.

7. Alright! hit start and let the process begin, as soon as your device restarts, you can check the recovery by booting into it. In order to do so, turn off your device and then turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home Button + Power Keysimultaneously, your phone should now boot into the ClockworkMod recovery.

How to root Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM – N900/N9005:

1. Place the downloaded SuperSu.zip file on your phone’s external SdCard. 
2. Boot into the recovery mode. In order to do so, turn off your device and then turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home Button + Power Key simultaneously, your phone should now boot into the ClockworkMod recovery.
3. You can move between the options by using volume up and down keys, to make a selection press home button or power key.
4. Select install zip > choose zip and then select the SuperSu.zip file you placed on the external SdCard.
5. Let it flash the SuperSu.zip, as soon as it ends, restart your device.
6. Congrats! Now you have rooted your phone, and already installed CWM recovery. Find the SuperSu.zip application in your applications.
